Time
for Escada Show

AUREN
BUSH,
the beautiful seventeen-year-old niece of the President and
granddaughter of former President George Bush, has returned
to the good old USA after backpacking with pals through Italy just
like many girls who are heading for college this fall.
At
the West Side Club, Peter Laitmon of Vespa of Greater New
York presented Lauren with a brand new Vespa, on which to scoot
around campus. She loved the blue color, but requested that it be
painted orange (Princeton’s colors are orange and black).

Next,
she zipped over to meet with Escada design director Brian Rennie,
who had himself just flown in from Europe to host a fashion event
that evening.
She
fell in love with a short, light pink, sequined dress with floral
embroidery. She also picked
out a short black strapless cocktail number with gold lace overlay
to wear later to the party.
It
was a glamorous evening at Escada’s three-level boutique on Fifth
Avenue. The President/CMO Caryn Lerner, president/COO Lawrence
C. DeParis
and
PR director Laura Henson joined Rennie in greeting such
guests as Jane Seymour, Tinsley Mortimer in a vintage
black and white minidress from the late '80s, Grace Hightower,
Muffie Potter Aston, Eleanor Lembo in a black cap sleeve dress
with jet
beaded
detail, Elizabeth Keiselstein Cord, K*19 The Widwomaker hunk James
Ginty, Tina Louise, NBC’s Jane Hanson, Sale Johnson,
Hartley du Pont, Andrea and Ashley Stark, Alexandra
Kotur, CJ Satterwhite and Amy Rosi.

They
all enjoyed cocktails and dinner by DM Cuisine and the decor by
Antony Todd.
The
highlight was an exclusive Fall/Winter fashion presentation,
Escada’s first runway show in New York since 2000. It featured the
return to glamour from curvaceous tailoring to sporty weekend
separates. There were three main themes:
Edwardian Dandy: black morning coats worn with
crisp white shirts and sleekly tailored pants, playing on the
sexiness of an androgynous look spun off with jet embroidered
blouses and frilled silk tops.

Haute Bohemia: patchworks, suede and
hippie-inspired prints coming together with layers of lace and tulle
worn with eccentric dyed fur coats and a Latin American spirit shown
by extra long and lean pants featuring sexy laces on the seams and
softly frilled cuffs and hem lines.
Aspen Weekend: glamorous sportswear with
superluxe fabrics and intricate details like patchworks of camel
ponyskin and chunky knit crochets worked into coats and A-line
skirts, finished with whip-stitched seams for a handcrafted feel and
worn with simple neutral cashmere tank tops or turtlenecks and
boot-cut denim jeans, sleek tan leather pants, full-length lambskin
coats and chunky fur collars.

One
can almost visualize Miss Bush scooting on her orange Vespa to a
Princeton football tournament, with her bohemian fur, tulle and lace
whirling around behind her, shouting, “Win, you Tigers! Well,
almost.
