oh so they were! More than 700 of the world's most famous, high
profile people were at the luxurious new Mandarin Oriental Hotel in
the magnificent Time-Warner Center at Columbus Circle for the grand
opening.
New York's Mr. Piano Man
performed his magic in front of floor-to-ceiling windows on the 36th
floor of this dramatic new landmark on New York's fabled skyline.
"It was the moment of a
lifetime," Mandarin Oriental chairman Eduaord Ettegui
noted after the stunning performance.
Guests arrived from all parts
of the globe—contingents from Hong Kong, London, Florida, Paris,
Germany, Turks & Caicos, titled noblemen (Lord Patrick
Lichfield who was the evening's M.C.), world famous architects I.M.
Pei, Richard Meier, actresses Isabella Rossellini, Michelle
Yeoh, supermodels Audrey Quock and Ling, world
famous author Frederick Forsythe, and New Yorkers by the
score—LeRoy Neiman, Neil Sedaka, Police Commissioner Ray
Kelly, super sleuth Bo Dietl, Susan and John Gutfreund, chefs
Eric Ripert, Daniel Boulud, Mario Battali, restaurateurs Sirio
Maccioni, Julian Niccolini, Lloyd Klein and Joycelyn
Wildenstein, and on and on into the star studded, flashbulb
popping night!
It was a starry night in the
nightlife firmament of New York. Arthur Backal of
State-of-the-Art Enterprises was the ringmaster of this global
production.

Denise Rich throws a party—the whole world comes! At
least it seemed that way in her gorgeous, glamorous, art filled
penthouse. This is one of the most beautiful homes in Manhattan,
and I mean home, not decorator showcase.
Denise is one of the most
generous people on the planet. God has given her much, and as
much as she can, she shares it. So, when Denise throws a
party—everyone wants to be there.
