ICRF Honors Women In Action
HE American Museum of Natural
History in New York played host to the Israel Cancer Research Fund's
Women of Action. The evening recognized women whose passion cast
them as role models by virtue of their outstanding achievements.
The event featured an incredible "Cause for a Cure Fashion
Show" featuring spring fashions by Kimberly Taylor
and Randi Rahm. The show was coordinated the
Richard Lowe Fashion Group.
Now if I only lost pounds I could maybe
get half of me into one of these fantastic creations. Talking about
food, Foremost Caterers did a great job!
Honorees of the evening were
Dr. Deborah Axelrod, director of Clinical Breast Programs
and Services and medical director of Community Cancer Education and
Outreach at NYU Clinical Cancer Center; journalist Marilyn
Berger Hewitt, widow of Don Hewitt, mastermind of 60
Minutes on CBS; and Dr. Suzanne Levine, foot
specialist and founder Institute de Beaute. Seen having a
marvelous time were Princess Kristina Kovalenko and
daughter Stacey, designer Cathy Hardwick,
psychologist and author Lisa Young, ICRF director
Shoshana Ellihou, ICRF chairman Dr.
Yashar Hirshaut, ICRF executive director Donna Kurz,
PR maven Beth Belkin, and Randi
Rahm’s good friend Walter Ayala.
Founded in 1975, ICRF is the single
largest source of private funds for cancer research in Israel.

Tennis Is Their Racquet
ALL STREET was all aglow as the
International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum in Newport, Rhode
Island, held its 31st annual Legends Ball at Cipriani Wall Street.
As the name states tennis legends and celebrities as well as their
fans and supporters of the Hall of Fame game together on an
incredible night to continue to celebrate the history of tennis and
honorees for the year.
Andre Agassi who looked dapper
with his beautiful wife Steffi Graf. Andre, along
with adorable Peachy Kellmeyer, were inducted in
July into the Hall of Fame. Also honored were Dick Enberg
with the Eugene L. Scott Award and the Campbell Soup
Company with the Joseph F. Cullman III Award. I was fortunate to
have known both Eugene and Joseph. It is still a pleasure to see
Eugene's wife Polly.
Kudos go to co-chairs Mark Ein,
Mike and Becky Goss, and Bob Jeffrey.
They worked tirelessly to make this event a success.
Also walking the red carpet was former
Mayor David Dinkins and his lovely wife Joyce.
Love that plaid tux, David. Also Tracy Austin in a
marvelous shade of purple and Jennifer Capriati in
a dazzling silver number.
The men did not disappoint including
Murphy Jensen, Brad Gilbert, Stan
Smith, Donald Dell, Butch Buchholz,
Vic Seixas and Russ Adams,
But the person I looked forward to meeting
was Ames Brown. He is the son of my friend, former
United States Tennis Association president Jane Brown Grimes.
Yes this is the Ames who broke everyone's heart on that bachelor
show. All the best to finding the person of your dreams. (Me, too.)

Isaacson and Mark Weinstein.
Alec Baldwin was most photographed this
year. His girlfriend Hilaria Thomas was also

last year.
The Artists and Writers annual softball
game began as a picnic on Sundays in the summer of 1948. (That was
the year my parents were married. I bet my parents would have loved
going
Everyone brought a dish. I loved tasting
the new sugar-free Snapple. I loved listening to Juliet Papa
from 1010 WINS. She truly was a winner. Also terrific was
the Actors' Studio's James Lipton. It wouldn't be
anything without journalist Dan Rattiner. He wore
his signature hat. Oh yes, the writers won.
